Helen Jean Young, 83, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.

She was born May 24, 1942, in Wellington, IL, to the late Russell and Evelyn (Lane) Holt.

Jean graduated from Wellington High School with the class of 1960.

On May 13, 1961, she married Robert Young in Hoopston, IL and he survives.

Jean and Robert owned Lafayette Saniwash for several years.

She was a member of 40&8 LeFemmes, Cabane 364.

Jean enjoyed watching hummingbirds.

Surviving with her husband, Robert are their children, Pam (Ron) Huffer, Brad (Phyllis) Young and Tim (Angie) Young all of Lafayette; a brother, John Holt of Lincoln, CA, a sister-in-law, MaryAnn Carmin of St. Louis, MO and a brother-in-law, Patrick Young of St. Louis, MO. Also surviving are six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren with one on the way and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Moore, Barbara Mathews and Cheryl Redden, sister-in-law, Donna Holt, brothers-in-law, Oliver Young, Michael Young and Roger Carmin.

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette. A private family Interment will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to, 40&8 Veterans Home Project, 1421 N. Creasy Lane, Lafayette, IN 47905
