Helen A. DeHaai, 89, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at St. Mary Health Care. She was born August 14, 1929, in Aurora County, SD, to the late James and Alice Cloud Scales.
On May 25, 1948 she married Harold Ray DeHaai in Plankinton Methodist Church in South Dakota and he preceded her in death on August 26, 2011. She was a member of the Brown Street United Methodist Church and enjoyed music, playing piano, cooking, card games, dice, crossword puzzles and her family.
Surviving are her children Arlene DeHaai of Lafayette, Darlene DeHaai of Attica and Allen (Laura) DeHaai of Daytona Beach, FL. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 11 great grand children and a great great granddaughter. Helen was preceded by a granddaughter, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Pastor Carolyn DeWitt officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Brown St. UMC in Helen’s memory.
