Harry Ralph Pass, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Aster Place in Lafayette.
He was born July 29, 1933, in Rensselaer, to the late Ralph and Gertrude (Dirst) Pass. He attended Fair Oaks High School in Fair Oaks, IN and was a United States Army Veteran obtaining the rank of Corporal. Harry served honorably during the Korean War from 1953 – 1955. His first marriage was to Jacqueline Jennings, and they later divorced. He then married Mary Joan Knowles in 1996, and she preceded him in death January 2019.
Harry worked as a Meat Cutter for Kroger for 35 years. He was a member of the United Food And Commercial Workers Union, VFW Post 2231 in Monticello, American Legion, The Loyal Order of Moose, and The Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, bowling, racing stock cars, and was an avid NASCAR racing fan. He liked to watch baseball and his favorite baseball teams were the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. He also enjoyed playing bid euchre with his wife and loved horses. He would often talk about farming with horses.
He is survived by 2 children, Jeffery (Cheryl) Pass of Frankfort and Amber Gay (Steve) Forney; 3 step-children, , Paul K. Knowles, Ronald G. (Lynne) Knowles of Frankfort and Mary Jo (Mark) Mills of West Lafayette; a sister, Betty Pass; 10 grandchildren, Erin (Brett) Rebb, Cara Forney, Nathanael (Rebecca) Pass, Lyndsey (Dan) Estes, , Cassi (A.J.) Henderson, Kyle (Megan) Knowles, Jessi Knowles, Joseph Mills, Sydney Mills, and Matthew Mills; 11 great-grandchildren, Isabelle Shaw, J.T. Shaw, Evelyn Pass, Braydan Estes, Jack Estes, Mason Knowles, Olivia Knowles, Reid Knowles, Amerie Henderson, Grant Henderson, and Lucas Henderson.
Along with his wife Mary Jo “Joan”, Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Gertrude; stepson; and 5 siblings, Ivy Bulington, Delos Pass, Curtis Pass, Ed Pass and Jerry Pass.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to until time of service at 6:00 pm, Friday, September 15, 2023, at Elston Presbyterian Church, 375 Elston Rd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Jene McVay officiating. Military Rites will follow the service.
