Rachel Lewis left a message on September 11, 2022:
Hanne became my aunt when she married my uncle Joe, though we were only about 3 years apart in age. Visiting their seaside home in Sorrento, Maine was a cosmopolitan experience, between Joe's bountiful garden and down-home Maine stories and Hanne's mementos of forebears in Greenland, elegant craftwork, and her gourmet cooking. Another aunt had been heard to say, "Hanne could produce an impressive meal for eight, out of a plank!"

To all the family: I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Hanne was a dear friend. We met in 1980 and have continued our friendship all these years. I shall especially think of her on Sunday, August 14th, her birthday. Hanne was an amazing friend: a brilliant woman, always thinking and challenging with ideas. She will be missed. Hanne volunteered as a tutor for us at Sumner (RSU 24) Adult Ed in Sullivan, Maine. She has such a kind and caring soul, and is very skilled at teaching. We hold warm memories of her time with us and her generosity in helping her fellow community members. Sincere condolences to her family and other friends on her loss.

Hanne Lewis taught me the value of quality, in her spinning, in her needlework, and her person, and in her lifestyle. I truly admired her and her gracious behavior whenever our spinning group gathered at her home in Sorrento, ME. I missed her terribly when she moved away and have thought of her often. Her family was important to her and I'm glad she could share her last years with you.
