Gloria Delcie Byers, 87, of West Lafayette, passed away at 1:55 pm, Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Anthony Health Care. She was born July 7, 1927, in Reynolds, the late Louis and Ida Holtam Westfall. Gloria Delcie Byers, 87, of West Lafayette, passed away at 1:55 pm, Monday, May 11, 2015 at St. Anthony Health Care. She was born July 7, 1927, in Reynolds, the late Louis and Ida Holtam Westfall. Gloria graduated from Reynolds High School and on July 20,1947 she married Ralph “Dick” Byers in Montmorenci. He survives. She worked as the head cook at Carmel Care Center for 9 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Womens Circle, and enjoyed Gardening and sewing. Surviving along with her husband is a son, Dennis (Catherine) Byers of Indianapolis; three daughters, Colleen Banes of Lafayette, Deborah (Phil) Newkirk of Ft. Myers, FL and Pamela (Keith) Reifke of Homer Glen, IL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Byers, a brother and two sisters. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday May 14, 2015 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN and again from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 am on Friday, at Montmorenci Cemetery Chapel, Montmorenci, IN with Rev. Scott Mann officiating. Burial will follow at Montmorenci Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute in her name to Montmorenci Cemetery Association.
