Mark Downing left a message on October 3, 2023:
The Crum family is filled with genuinely kind people and Gerald was a true example of that wonderful quality. My friendship with him was unique - it spanned nearly forty years, but I rarely saw him outside of Memorial Day during that entire span, so it was a friendship totaling about 40 days in length! Gerald was the official driver for our annual trek from Lafayette to the Indy 500 and he was an expert - rarely stopping or even slowing from the time we left until we arrived at the trackside lot where he had a reserved spot. We thoroughly enjoyed the verbal “negotiation” that would take place if a new lot attendant tried to deny Gerald his front-row spot. He was never mean, just very direct. (Gerald won all of thosenegotiations, btw.) I will miss Gerald and my unique friendship with him. I know he will be with us when we try to use his technique to get a front-row parking spot at the race in future years.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
