Frances Ellen Cargnino, 100 years old, passed away on June 11, 2023 at Westminster Village.
Frances was born on June 9, 1923 in Brutus, Michigan to the late George and Caroline O’Reilly. She graduated from Alanson High School in Alanson, Michigan in 1941 and attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. After school, Frances worked as a secretary at the Aircraft plant in Willow Run, Michigan until 1945.
On June 28, 1944 she married Lawrence T. Cargnino who preceded her in death on January 14, 2012. Mrs. Cargnino was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed her family and doing needlework, gardening, and traveling. She was a prolific quilt maker outfitting all family members with her creations and made wedding dresses for 3 of her daughters. She helped raise two of her grandsons in her home and was a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Frances volunteered many hours while a resident at Westminster Village and received the Beautification Award for her many projects.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Barbara Kam of West Lafayette, Indiana, Marilyn Bruce, husband Tom of Leawood, Kansas, and Sharon DeCamp, husband Art of LaGrange, Georgia, 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Marguerite Mourer of Ann Arbor, MI and one brother, Terrance O’Reilly of Uniontown, PA. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn de Bedout Bell, one sister, Catherine Freeland and one brother, George M. O’Reilly.
Funeral services are under the direction of Soller-Baker Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15 at Blessed Sacrament Church followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m.
