Florence Catherine (Owens) Ellrich, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Florence was born in Taylorville, Illinois on November 20, 1928 to the late Otis and Mary Catherine (Mamie) Graham Owens. She married the love of her life, Harold R. Ellrich, on May 1, 1946, who passed away on May 23, 1989. Florence resided in Lafayette for 56 years and was a member of St. Mary Cathedral. She was a homemaker while her children were young, later working in several different sales positions. She enjoyed photography, gardening, cooking, and making quilts for her family and friends. Known to many as “Grandma Flo”, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her large extended family. Surviving are three children: Janice (Tab) Gebhard of Lafayette, Dwayne (Elizabeth) Ellrich of Rensselaer, Roy Dean (Michelle) Ellrich of Otterbein; Twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren and a grand dog Sam. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother; Theotis Davis, Theresa Thomas, Don Owens and Meda Ann Durbin. She is preceded in death by her husband, both parents, sister's Leona Tex, Rita Crowder, Marilyn Wilson, and one brother, Douglas Owens. Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, IL on July 29th, at 2:00pm (CDT). A Private Memorial Service will be held in Lafayette, IN at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association and to the American Heart Association.
