Eugene D. Ostheimer, 88, of Lafayette passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. He was born November 2, 1925, in Lafayette, IN, to the late John and Mary Delong Ostheimer. Gene graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and Indiana Business College. He married Betty Kenzler on November 12, 1966 at St. Boniface Catholic Church and she survives. Eugene was Senior Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer at Lafayette Bank and Trust when he retired on November 30, 1990 after 45 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was presented with the Marquis of Lafayette title, recognizing his selfless labors and acheivements with in the Lafayette Commmunity. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, aviation, traveling and watching Chicago Cubs games. He was also a member of the Lafayette Cloud Jockeys. Surviving along with his wife are his children David Ostheimer (Natasha), Lisa VanderHoff (Kenneth) all of Lafayette, grandchildren Katelyn and Jacob VanderHoff, Michael Hicks and many nephews and nieces. Gene was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Ostheimer and a sister Phyllis McCartney. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 PM Sunday at Mulberry Health & Retirement, Community Room, Mulberry, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Monday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Fr. Clayton Thompson officiating. Interment will be at St. Boniface Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those wishing may contribute in Gene's memory to the St. Boniface Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society.
