My condolences go out to all the family members. Gene will be missed. I'm Gene's cousin. I spent many hours at the Lamberson house when I was growing up. I particularly enjoyed going to their house on Lake Freeman. One fall day when we were students at Purdue Gene said that we should go water skiing. I thought that it was too cold so I was reluctant to commit. He had an answer for that; he said that we could wear wet suits. We spent several hours skiing that day & the wet suits did the trick.

Gene was a treasured friend and water skiing buddie of my mom and dad. My deepest sympathies to Shannon and Lori and the rest of his extended family.

Gene was a wonderful guest lecturer in my Senior Design class (CE 498) in the Lyles School of Civil Engineering over the years. On his 200th lecture to various courses at Purdue CE over the years we presented him with a plaque in the classroom after his lecture in 2011. He was an expert on Mechanically Stabilized Earthen Walls (MSE) used throughout Indiana and the nation and gave our students the benefit of his knowledge during many lectures. During his lectures he would surprisingly show himself on water skis and one time had a giant stuffed grisly bear looking over his shoulder as he was reading an engineering spec sheet. He was a great dynamic lecturer and the students loved him. We will miss Gene.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
