Ellen Marie (Schmitt) Hiday, 56, of Lafayette passed away on July 9, 2017 at her residence following a brief illness.
Born April 2, 1961 in Lafayette to Jane (Engelland) Schmitt (of Lafayette) and the late Lloyd R. Schmitt.
Ellen graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979 and received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University in 1999.
Her marriage was to Tim P. Hiday and he survives.
Ellen worked at TRW as a Sr. Mechanical Engineer.
She was an artist and enjoyed crafts, arranging flowers, and her dogs Hank and Freddie. She was a strong, dedicated wife and mother who battled cancer.
Surviving along with her mother and husband are their children, Paige Hiday of Cartersville, GA, Palmer Hiday, Payton Hiday, and Parker Hiday all of Lafayette; two sisters, Suzi (Kevin) Kahn of Portland, OR and Nancy (Tim) Garland of Marion, IL.
Friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, July 14, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel at 400 Twyckenham Blvd, Lafayette, IN 47909. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, July 15, also at Soller- Baker. Roger Scheibe will be officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette.
