Edna Carolyn Harner, 100, of Lafayette, formerly of Brookston where she spent most of her life on the farm, passed away at 1:45 am Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Rosewalk Commons. She was born April 14, 1915, in Tippecanoe County, to the late John and Elizabeth Rowe Sutton. Edna graduated from Montmorenci High School and Lafayette Business College and on February 9, 1938 she married Clifford H. Harner in Lafayette. He passed away July 22, 1969. Edna devoted her life to taking care of her daughter Nancy and enjoyed sewing, traveling, ballroom dancing and was a member of the Mothers Club and a Euchre club in Brookston. Surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Cook of Lafayette, Vicki Price of Zionsville and Margo (Ken) Baldwin of West Lafayette, a sister, Mary Ella (Bob) Altherr of Albuquerque, NM. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Paul Baldwin, Michael Baldwin, Jay Cook, Sheri (fiance, Andy Bristow) Cook, Carmen Price, Jill (Chad) Wellman along with eight great grandchildren, Colin and Ella Baldwin, Brogan Corya, Cooper and Parker Wellman, Hunter and Lauren Cook and Logan Price Rettinger. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Harner, two sisters, Evelyn Howell, and Marie Fraley and three brothers, Dick, Jack and Charles Sutton. The family would like to thank Rosewalk Commons for the care that they gave Edna during her time there. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 5th at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel. Burial will follow the service also at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
