Edana “Bonnie” (Borntrager) Deverall, 93, formerly of West Lafayette, more recently of Hendersonville, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday November 2nd at the Elizabeth House – Hospice Center. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, Bonnie was surrounded by a village of loving family and friends who helped her pass with grace and dignity. Born in Rensselaer, IN on September 22, 1921 to Elizabeth (Zink) and John Borntrager, Bonnie met Charles “Bob” Robert Deverall, of Buffalo New York, while working as a secretary at Purdue University. The two married on September 25, 1945 and lived in West Lafayette, Indiana. Bonnie and Bob raised 5 children. She was a member of Lafayette Junior Women's Club, Wabash Valley Hospital Auxiliary and a charter member of Blessed Sacrament Church in West Lafayette, Indiana. Bonnie was a volunteer extraordinaire. She was best known for her love of family, cardinals, hotdogs, wine-time, North Carolina Mountains and waterfalls, and companion pit-lab mix Luke; her awesome pie crust and world famous chicken gravy; and her dislike of roosters (there is a story), apple butter and raw tomatoes. Celebrating her life are five children: Jane Haan (companion Bob Lefevers), David Deverall (Connie), Ruth Ann Deverall, Margy Deverall (husband Jerry Hunley) and Alice Brunk (Randy); ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband (November 2002), three brothers, five sisters, and two sons-in-law. Visitation will be 10am-12:30pm (EDT) Saturday at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel; 1184 Sagamore Pkwy W. Funeral mass will be 1:00pm Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, West Lafayette. Burial will be immediately afterward at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made to benefit Bonnie's dear friends at Four Seasons Hospice-Elizabeth House, 571 South Allen Rd, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or Care Partners Adult Daycare, 114 College Drive, Flat Rock, NC 28731
