Dwight “Art” Wall Jr., 95, of Lafayette died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at IU Arnett Hospital. He was born January 2, 1920, in Frankfort to the late Dwight A. and Frances Yost Wall. Art graduated from Monon High School in 1938 and on April 29, 1944 he married Myra Peavey in Lafayette and she preceded him in death in 2011. Art worked for Tate & Lyle for 11 years retiring in 1982. He had previously worked for Frito Lay, Keebler, Sawyer Biscuit, Peerless Wire and the US Post Office. He was a long time member of Congress Street United Methodist Church and the Teamsters Union. A life long resident of the Lafayette area, Art loved visiting with his many friends. His constant cheerfulness and friendly wave from his Hedgewood Drive home made him a very special person. Surviving are his children Mary Smith (Jeff) of Colorado Springs, CO, Don Wall (Cheryn) of Scottsdale, AZ, grandchildren Patti Schwartz (Dana) of Beaverton, OR, Larry Smith of Studio City, CA, Kathleen Smith of Redwood City, CA, Sarah Lehocky (Rob) of Mobile, AL, Michael Wall (Audrey) of San Francisco, CA, great grandchildren Taylor, Payton and Jake Lehocky of Mobile, AL and Teddy Wall of San Francisco, CA. Also surviving is his brother Evan Jay Wall (Joyce) of Troy, OH. Art was preceded in death by siblings Larry Wall, Marcella Mitchell, Betty Turner, Jeannie Bear and Mary Helen Emery. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM Monday until time of service at 3:00 PM at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Rev. Clarinda Crawford officiating. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Clay City. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Congress Street United Methodist Church, 2010 Congress St., Lafayette, IN 47905.
