Dr. Stephens was one of the most dynamic professors I had when studying communication disorders/speech pathology at Northern Illinois University. She was an excellent teacher and expected nothing less from her students. I had the privilege of being one of her research assistants in graduate school. Taking a university car (wow, did I feel special!), I drove to Rockford to get speech samples from school children there. In her language development class, she would give real life examples using the utterances of her sons. None of us will forget the names Bill & John. Rest In Peace, Dr. Stephens.
