Dorothy Louise Horn (Dot) of Lafayette danced her way to heaven as of Sunday, April 29, 2018.
She was born in Dekalb County on March 18, 1920 to Gene and Bertha Rosenberry Whitman.
Dorothy graduated from Butler High School in 1937 and move to Lafayette in 1941, where she made her forever home. She met Marshall Horn at the Park and Eat in 1951 and married on September 29, 1952 and he survives. She was a mother to Jack Gruver (wife Ellen), R. Darleen Townsley and Pamela Pendleton (husband David). She was an amazing Grandma to Andy Gruver, Ryan Townsley (wife Shawne), Jenna Scott (husband Wesley) and Troy Pendleton. She was a Great Grandma to Kellen and Nora Scott.
Dot was an avid square dancer, loved to work the crossword and enjoyed sewing. She had visited seven countries, was a member of the 60th medical Battalion, and for many years she was a Gray Lady with the Red Cross. She also wintered in Okeechobee Florida since 1972. Dorothy is preceded in death by her brothers Vernon, Harold and Duane Whitman along with her Great Grandson Hudson Scott.
Visitation will be Saturday May 5, 2018 from 2-3pm Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel followed by the service at 3pm. The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions to: Alzheimer’s Research Assoc. You may sign the guest book and leave memories and pictures at www.soller-baker.com
