Doris M. Rees, 87, formerly of Clarks Hill passed away Monday morning April 1, 2013, at St Anthony Health Care, in Lafayette, IN. On June 24, 1925, she was born to the late Lloyd and Fae Murdaugh Hawkins in Tippecanoe County IN. A graduate of Shadeland High School Doris married Robert Lee Rees in November 1949. He preceded her in death in September 2002. The majority of her working career was working for Sparkletone One Hour Martinizing in West Lafayette and Mark's Grocery in Clarks Hill. Doris' community activities were: a member of Tippecanoe County Home Economics Club, Cub Scout den mother, Brownie leader and singing in and directing the Clarks Hill Methodist Church choir. She also enjoyed cooking, making ceramics, sewing and spending time with her family. Surviving are Joseph E. (Joe) Rees son, Lafayette; Virginia S. (Sue) Rees-Lewellen, daughter, Attica; daughter, Margaret F. (Peg) Patrick (husband: Stephen); son, Robert L. (Butch) Rees II (wife: Dixie), Clarks Hill. Doris has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Vicki Gupton and Phyllis Smith; brother-in law, Donald Rees; plus many loving nieces and nephews; and special friend Leo Farmer. Doris was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Joyce E. Rees; son-in-law, Jerry C Lewellen; sister, Margaret Anne Clements; brothers, James E. Hawkins (died in infancy), Russell Paul (Bud) Hawkins, and Walter Earl (John) Hawkins. Visitation will be Saturday April 6, 2013, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with funeral service following immediately. The location is Soller Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Steven Johnson will officiate the service with burial at Mintonye Cemetery, South Raub.
