Dorann K. (Bartelson) Newhart of Lafayette died Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Creasy Springs Health Campus in West Lafayette after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born March 31, 1944, in Oxford to the late Allen and Dorothy Bartelson. She was a 1963 graduate of Oxford High School and was baptized in the Oxford Church of Christ and has lived in Lafayette since 1966. On January 12, 1978, she married Norman D. Newhart, and he survives.
Dorann worked at Pythian Home, Purdue University, and Eli Lilly & Company. She was a member of the East Tipp Baptist Church and was a member of the CBN 700 Club since 1985. Over the years, when she had the means to do so, she would help support the Jewish people in Israel.
Dorann was a proud and loving mother and grandmother and was well known for being the family comedian. In her earlier years she enjoyed golfing and being on a women’s bowling league.
Along with her husband, Norman, she is survived by a son, Craig (Cyndi) Hess; 2 step-sons, Todd (Amanda) Newhart and Karl (Brenda) Newhart; 7 grandchildren, Joshua Hess, Alyssa Andersen, Kaitlynn Hess, Evan Newhart, Morgan Feehan, Hunter Newhart, and Davy Newhart; 3 great-grandchildren, Selah Andersen, Colter Newhart, and Wylan Newhart; sister, Leslie (Mike) Williams; nephew, Colter Williams; and niece, Rhaegen Williams.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Joel Flowers officiating.
Interment will follow at Meadow View Cemetery, 3733 Poland Hill Rd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
