Donna Marie Adams, 84, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

She was born February 21, 1939, in Knox, IN, to the late Martin and Martha Eckert Coffin.

Donna graduated from Reynolds High School in 1957 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

She was a proud veteran of the Marines and was honorably discharged in 1960 as a corporal.

On August 28, 1959, she married Abel Dexter Pierson in Cherry Point, North Carolina and they later divorced on March 27, 1963. On April 7, 1963, she married Roy Elmer Gokey and they later divorced on August 6, 1979. On July 4, 1987, she married Charles B. Adams Sr. and he later passed on May 14, 1999.

Donna worked was District Supervisor of Operations for United States Post Office for 37 years.

She was a proactive member of First Christian Church where she attended services, assisted with funeral dinners and was active in the CWF- Christian Women’s Fellowship.

She was also a member of the 40/8 Voiture and the American Legion Post 11 where she was awarded Marine of the Year.

Donna most enjoyed doing things for others to include cooking, making blankets, and any craft needed.

Surviving are daughter, Leslie (Husband Franklin) Decker of Lafayette, IN, brother, Dennis Coffin of Reynolds. Grandchildren, Alexis and Madison Bradshaw of Lafayette, Rebecca M. Vega and Jacob Pierson. Great-grandchildren Hailea Vega, Marquise Floyd, Sagen Pierson, Beaux Pierson and Braxton Pierson.

Donna was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Sjoblom, Brother-in-law Michael Sjoblom; Son, Karl Pierson; Great-Grandson Andrew L. Vega Jr.

Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:30 on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, followed by service at 11:30. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens West Lafayette, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to: American Red Cross, American Cancer Society or American Heart Assoc.

I am so sorry to hear of this. Donna was a great person to work with at the Lafayette Post Office. She had a good heart, loved her family, and will be missed by all. She also made the best yeast rolls, and BLT sandwhiches.

We are left with good memories and a heavy heart. To say that Donna was unique would be an understatement. She was always true to herself, yet always willing to help in any way she could. Her Christian works are well known by all of us, but mostly with Jesus. My sincere sympathies to her family!

Leslie I am saddened to hear of Donna’s passing. I have years of memories of time spent working with Donna at the Lafayette Post Office. Lots of laughs and time spent together after work as well. Donna was one of the best cooks ever! She loved You All dearly. Condolences to You and the extended Family.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Donna was a wonderful friend and member of the Church Women United organization of Tippecanoe County, having served as our president.in 2015-2016. Friendships come in all different forms.I was privileged to have Donna as a long distance friend.She shared many memories of her family and Marine Corp days. I will miss her chats and shared laughs. Donna was such a neat lady. She will be greatly missed.

We have lost a great lady and a good friend. We will miss her. The American Legion has lost a great advocate for the Veterans. Rest In Peace Donna.
