Our precious mother went home to the Lord February 24 at the age of 98. We had the privilege of being with her, singing hymns, reading scripture, and praying for her. You could just imagine that chubby little toddler with the Clara Bow haircut running into the arms of Jesus and basking in the most glorious music. Revelation talks about streets of gold in heaven but, for our talented mother, we think God might just repave them with piano keys to mark her arrival. If you could measure wealth in this world, the love that her 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren had for her made her a wealthy woman indeed.
A lifelong piano teacher who had studied with Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio, Donis considered music education her legacy to her family and countless other young people. An avid reader, she also wanted to share that joy and volunteered for many years at Hershey Elementary School, helping first graders improve their reading skills.
Donis was born in London, Ontario and was married to Dr. Donald F. MacLeod of Nova Scotia. They moved to Indiana in 1950. Surviving are her three children, Regan (Larry) Eckstein, Stacy (Grady) Jones, and Donald (Debbie) MacLeod, all of West Lafayette, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of her life at 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Covenant Church in West Lafayette.
