Donald Leroy Keiser, 84, of Lafayette passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Creasy Springs Health Campus. He was born November 20, 1929, in Lansing, IL, to the late Fred and Dora Porter Keiser. On August 25, 1950 he married Phyllis Barnhart in Lafayette and she survives. Donald farmed in Tippecanoe County and then began working in building construction. In 1960 he and business partner, Jake Keiser formed Keiser & Keiser Contractors. Don retired in 1999. He was a member of Heartland Community Church, formerly First Reformed Church, Lafayette, prior to retiring in Florida. While living in Florida they were members of First United Methodist Church, Punta Gorda and Live Oak Church, Arcadia. Don loved to travel. He and wife Phyllis visited forty-nine states including some of Canada, in their motor home. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating, fishing and gardening. He was a lover of music, and especially enjoyed listening to Southern Gospel music. He and his wife Phyllis enjoyed their retirement in Florida. Eventually they settled at Live Oak RV Resort in Arcadia, Florida where they were blessed with many friends while living there. Don was a devoted family man. Surviving along with his wife are his children Nancy Dase (Bill) of Wheatfield, IN, Donna Keiser (Ricky Keifer) of Lafayette, IN, Colleen Chiverton of Lafayette, IN, Vickie Buck (Tom) of Lafayette, IN, Bryan Keiser (Kathy) of Monticello, IN, and 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Jack Keiser (Millie) of Lafayette, IN and sisters Norma Smit of Schereville, IN and Janell DeVries (Tom) of Ceder Lake, IN Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday, March 14th at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 15th at Heartland Community Church, 3900 E 300 N with Pastor Drew Poppleton officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. A private, graveside service officiated by Pastor Stacey Littlefield will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Those wishing may contribute to the Live Oak Church, 12865 SW Hwy 17, Arcadia, Florida 34269 in Donald's memory.
