Donald Alvin Miller

Donald Alvin Miller, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Don was born on September 19, 1932, in Mulberry, Indiana, to the late Raymond and Ruth Miller. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Rhine. Together they shared 66 years of marriage until Marilyn’s passing in 2018.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, spending most of his service in Germany. Following his military service, he dedicated his life to farming while also owning and operating his own mechanic business. His strong work ethic and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

A man of deep faith, Don faithfully served his church and, alongside Marilyn, spent many years participating in mission work with NOMADS. He also enjoyed flying, earning his private pilot’s license and owning his own airplane for many years.

Above all, Don was devoted to his family. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with his children, 10 grandchildren, and 30 great-grandchildren. His love, steady guidance, and servant’s heart will be remembered by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Cletus Miller and Elmo Miller, and his sister, Shirley Keller.

He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Smith; his children, Jacqueline Munson, Julie Wier, and Phillip Miller; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.

Funeral service will be held at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, Indiana, on Saturday, July 25, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Donations can be made to The Gideons International.
