Dewey J “Jay” Ross, 73, of West Lafayette, IN, passed away on November 12, 2022.  Jay was born on May 9, 1949, to Dewey S. Ross and Martha (Bennett) Straughn of Kokomo, IN.

He survived by his wife, Sally (Sondag) Ross, children Jay (Sarah) Ross, Lesley Mills, Mollie (Ken) Siu-Chong, Jonathan Ross, Samuel (Tina Applebee) Ross; grandchildren Ashta (Vanne) Harler, Neil Ross, Ethan Mills, Amelia Ross, Alaura Ross, Oscar Siu-Chong, Penny Siu-Chong, Harry Siu-Chong; great grandchild Blaire Harler; brother and sister-in-law William and Annette Maiden, and sister Marjorie Chapman; sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.  Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Martha (Bennett) Straughn and Dewey S. Ross; stepfather Rollin Straughn; sisters Julia Paulson and Ruby Jean Gile.

Jay was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas in West Lafayette, IN, Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion.  He was retired from the Air Force with 22 years of devoted service.  He received his Business Management Degree from Northwest Christian University (Bushnell University) in 2012.  After retirement, he worked for the Department of Defense administering ASVAB tests for the military.  He spent the final two years of his life as a Federal Small Business loan officer processing loans for businesses affected by the COVID virus.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in West Lafayette, Father Tom McDermott OP officiating.  Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Lafayette.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Jay’s memory.
