On Friday, November 27, 2015, Delmar Edington was called home to be with his Heavenly Father. He had been residing at Digby Place since May, 2015. He was born August 27, 1931 in Vigo County, Indiana, to Leon and Hazel Edington. A graduate of Fayette High School, Del then served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1951. He moved to Texas and then to Lafayette, where he worked for National Homes for a number of years. He then went on to work as an Architectural Draftsman for Stewart Kline and Walter Scholer. Del finally decided to start his own trash removal service, 'Edington's Hauling', which he did as sole owner/operator for over 40 years, before retiring at age 78. Del, as he liked to be called, will be remembered for his excellent work ethic and services provided by Edington's Hauling, his enormous generosity to his family, friends, church and countless others. But he will be most remembered as a true man of God. He loved the Lord, Jesus Christ more than anything in this life and shared the Gospel with many, many people over the years. Del was a member of First Assembly of God Church for over 40 years. Del loved his family very, very much. He is survived by daughter, Lisa Edington, daughter, Teresa Matthews (Michael), daughter, Kathy Baird (Bob), daughter, Rhonda Mead (Sam). Preceded in death by his son, Alan Edington. Survived by grandchildren, Austin Edington (Kasie), Destinee Boatman, Robert Baird (Annie), Thomas Baird (fiancee’ Sara), Melisa Wilzbacher (Carrick) and Christa Gibson (Jesse). Survived by great-grandchildren Abigail and Charlie Baird, Jessie Blu Mead. Also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Visitation will be Monday November 30, 2015 from 9-10am service at 10:00am at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel Pastor Robby Bradford officiating. Burial at St Boniface Catholic Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions to First Assembly.
