Deborah (Deb) J. Fife, 65, of Lafayette passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.

Deb was born on September 14, 1958, in Crawfordsville, Ind. to Bill and Marge (Myers) Calder. She graduated from North Montgomery High School. Deb married Larry Fife, the love of her life, of Delphi, Ind. on April 4, 1981, in Las Vegas, Nev.

As a registered nurse in Lafayette for nearly 30 years, Deb selflessly cared for thousands of patients who needed her help the most. Deb enjoyed reading, being outdoors, tending to flowers and herbs, loving all pets, vacationing on the beach with her husband, and spending countless hours with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving along with her husband are her three children Brandon Fife and his wife, Jessica; Blake Fife and his wife, Kellie; and Breann (Fife) Bauer and her husband Adam, as well as seven grandchildren: Raynee, Aiden, Teddy, Wally, Kate, Graham, and Benny. Deb was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hannah. In addition, Deb is survived by her brother Bill Calder and his wife, Debbie, and their two sons.

In lieu of flowers, it is Deb’s wish that memorial contributions be made to the American Red Cross or Riley Children’s Health/Riley Children’s Foundation.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 5, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, Ind.

I’m so saddened by this loss. Our friendship started with McCutcheon girls basketball, where our daughters played together & became friends. Even though our time together grew far & very few between, we always picked right up where we left off. Such a kind, caring and loving person. Wishing her family strength and comfort at this sad time.

I was so sad to read of Deb’s passing. She always had a smile on her face, and so pleasant. I knew Deb from Romney, and later at times would see her in the medical field. Know she will be greatly missed. Condolences to Larry and family.

I worked with Mama Deb at Unity. She was a loving, kind, and compassionate soul. You will always be missed. You were so much for those around you, family, coworkers, for your patients.

My prayers go out to Debs family. I had the pleasure of working with Deb for several years at Northside Cardiology. She was a friend, a wonderful mother and caring nurse. She will be missed by so many of us whose life she touched. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Working alongside Debbie has been a privilege & honor, such a wealth of knowledge with experience in healthcare. Her kindness evident in her eyes, reassuring touch and compassion shown to all the encountered. Debbie loved Larry & her family beyond measure, the absolute joy of her life. Debbie’s kind touch, compassion and true empathy for others never went unnoticed. Debbie will be missed both professionally & personally by so many.
