Dean M. Rothenberger

Dean M. Rothenberger, 77, of West Lafayette, died at 11:52 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Clarian Arnett Hospital.
Born on Aug. 20, 1933, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Sylvester and Daisy Coffman Rothenberger. He graduated from West Lafayette High School in 1951 and attended Purdue University.
He was married to Jeanenne Foster Rothenberger.
Mr. Rothenberger worked for Arth Drug from 1960 until 1995.
He was a member of the West Lafayette City Council from 1976 to 1992. As a council member he was active on the Tippecanoe County Area Plan Commission.
Mr. Rothenberger also played a key role in the adoption of the West Lafayette housing codes and curbside recycling program. He also helped to establish city noise ordaninces and the New Chauncey Neighborhood Association. He enjoyed gardening, reading, music, history and politics.
Surviving are his children, Jon Rothenberger (wife: Darla) and Rebecca Rothenberger, both Lafayette, David Rothenberger of West Lafayette, Kurt Rothenberber (wife: Susan) of Waxhaw, NC.
Also surviving are his granchildren, Amanda and Jacob Rothenberger, Mary Agnes and Charles Rothenberger; nephews Dale Rothenberger, Douglas Paprocki; and a niece Judith Paprocki. Preceded in death by a brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorials to charity of choice.

Dean was the best next door neighbor on Stadium that I could have hoped for over the 17 years I lived there. I can still hear him coming out and saying &looking good& as I played in my flower beds. My condolences to the entire family.

I so enjoyed working at Arth&s Stadium Street store with Mr. Rothenberger. I addition to keeping me working hard, he kept me smiling with his sense of humor!

Mrs. Rothenberger,
Well, I have three daughteres, and I think of you every time they they fly by me with their Math knowledge! You would be happy! I thought I was a pretty decent math student, but they all surpassed me early on in high school...it can&t have anything to do with the fact (Proof: positive) that I am getting older!!
