David James Vanderipe, 66, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, July 14, 2023. He was born on June 4, 1957, in Lafayette to Robert E Vanderipe and the late Mary Louise (Francis) Mailloux.
David was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and held various jobs throughout his life, finding success as a bartender. David cherished his time spent with his family, especially his girlfriend Brenda and her family. He particularly enjoyed bonding with Brenda’s grandchildren and attending their sporting events. David was an avid Purdue and Kansas City Chief fan. He would frequently be spotted wearing his Purdue and Chiefs attire, proudly displaying his allegiance to his favorite teams. David and Brenda recently embarked on a truly special journey to England to celebrate David’s 65th birthday and visit Brenda’s daughter and her family. It was a trip of a lifetime and the memories they created will forever be treasured, serving as a reminder of their joyous time spent together.
In addition to his father, Robert Vanderipe, David is survived by his stepmother, Nancy (Grace) Vanderipe, two brothers, Richard (Gigi Larmour-Goldin) Vanderipe and Michael (Janna) Mailloux, three step-sisters, Sherri (Dennis) Crandall, Michelle (Brian) Harner, Nicole (Brett) Sanders and the love of his life, Brenda Smith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Mailloux, stepfather, Paul Mailloux, and a brother, Stephen Todd Vanderipe.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, located at 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at St. Boniface Cemetery, located at 2581 Schuyler Avenue, Lafayette, IN 47905.
David James Vanderipe will be remembered as a friendly and kind-hearted individual who brought joy to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed by his loved ones, friends, and the community he was a part of. May he rest in peace.
