David Charles McGrath , 61, of Oxford, IN passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Lafayette, IN.
Born in Lafayette, IN February 1964. David was the son of James Leo McGrath and Julia Mae McGrath. He spent his life building a legacy as a father, mentor, leader and good friend in his community. David attended Purdue University and went on to a career as a hard working Commercial Sales leader where he was known for integrity and leadership.
Beyond his professional life, David was a man of many passions. He was most at home when hunting, foraging for wild asparagus, and mushrooms, working in his garden and golfing. Those who knew him will fondly remember he was a fierce competitor and a man of strong family values.
David is survived by his loving wife Mary and his son Austin. He also leaves behind his brothers Dennis McGrath of Okemos, MI; Terry McGrath of Allen, TX; Patrick McGrath of Wimberley, TX; Brother in law Keith Erk, Sister in law Sherry McGrath; Sister in law Betty McGrath, Sister in Law Melissa McGrath, Brother in Law Stanley Mefford and Sister in Law Ellen Mefford and a wide circle of friends who were like family to him. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Cheryl Erk; father in law Donald Mefford and Mother in law Frances Mefford.
Service Information:
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church at 300 West Fowler Avenue, West Lafayette, IN 47906 with pastor Randy Schroeder officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation starting at 1:30pm to 2:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David’s memory to Benton Community Foundation of Fowler, In; Bentoncf.org an organization close to his heart.
