David Benjamin Spray, age 59, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023. He was born on June 2, 1964, in Frankfort, IN to Joe & Rosemary Spray. Dave is preceded in death by his father Joe, his step-father Max Beeler, and his brother Ron Spray. Dave is survived by his wife of 29 years, Amy, his 2 children, Drew and Sophia, his mother, Mimi, 2 step-brothers, Mark Beeler and Jay Beeler, and his many nieces and nephews. He was a loving father and husband who was always a considerate and positive force for the people in his life. He always took pride in his work, whether it was for Fairfield, BMW, or Caterpillar, and he enjoyed fixing and reselling things all throughout his life, yet he always found time and energy for his loved ones. He could disarm you with his humor just as well as he could offer you sincere personal advice. He loved music, and he had a lifelong interest in things like hiking, hunting, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, camping, and other outdoor activities, and he took great pleasure in sharing these things with others. He stood by his principles, but he made an effort to keep an open mind, even as an older man. He always put others before himself, he was humble, and he treated everyone fairly. He was a great man.

To Amy, Drew and Sophia: we were devastated to hear the news about Dave. We are also thankful to have known Dave and to count him as a great friend. Our condolences and prayers go out to everyone in the Spray family.

Hi, my name is Joe Morrison, and I was Dave's Supervisor at Caterpillar on the 3500 Shortline, Dave was a great friend and co-worker that I enjoyed having around. He would always crack jokes and make you laugh, he worked hard and helped everyone he could. I'm going to miss him and his smile. My condolences go out to his family and friends, and I pray for comfort and peace in your hearts.

How do you capture the spirit of a guy like Dave? He was a one of kind friend and neighbor. Always willing to help, always quick to laugh or share a joke. A supremely positive, wise and measured human being. We had a shared interest in pocketknives, flashlights, cold weather gear, good whiskey and "collecting things" that others might refer to as pack rat syndrome. Dave loved animals and always had a piece of cheese for our dog anytime he visited. A master "tinkerer", Dave was always my first call when I couldn't figure out a problem with my car, or house, or sometimes my life. He was a sage giver of advice and his perspective in these matters will be sorely missed. I will miss his waves as he drove by the house and the BS sessions that inevitably followed when he stopped. I will miss his hysterical stories from past adventures. I will miss him whipping around the cul-de-sac in whatever new motorized toy he had found and fixed. I will miss his smile and laugh. Most of all, though, I will miss my friend and the joy he brought to my life. It was an absolute gift to have known Dave and one I will cherish for the rest of my days. We love you Spray family and are here for you.

You were such a great neighbor and friend. You always had a smile and helped whoever needed it. We sure will miss you. Amy, we are right next door anytime you need a friend.

So sorry to hear this about Dave , Breaks my heart Always such a fun and caring guy ! In school He could be so serious but yet sometimes you didn’t know if he was joking and then he would lol ! Prayers for his family and friends , he will be missed greatly for sure ! RIP Dave ??
