Darrell Schweiss, 64, of Lafayette, was born August 28, 1956, in San Antonio, TX, and died unexpectedly February 20, 2021. He was proud to serve his country after high school as a sergeant in the US Army and left service only to raise his family. He met the love of his life, Lynn (nee Beck), at a wedding just before he deployed to Germany. When he returned to the states, she moved with him to the Army base in Hawaii, where they married on March 17, 1978. They settled in Lafayette, where he had a long career with the United States Postal Service. They remained devoted for 36 years, until her death in 2014. His spirit is now reunited with hers.
Surviving are son Nick and daughter Emma Laster and her husband Stephen, and Greyden, Dominic, Ethan, John, Kaleb, Mary, and Anne, his beloved grandchildren. Also surviving is a large and loving extended family located across the US.
Darrell was an avid fan of both the Bears and Cubs, and he was so happy to see championships for both in his lifetime. He enjoyed bowling and golfing, and he loved spending time with family.
