Daniel W. Lancaster, 55, of Lafayette, IN, died Wednesday August 7, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born September 1, 1957, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Charles and Geraldine Tolen Lancaster. Dan was preceded in death by his step mother Martha Lancaster. He graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School in 1975 and on April 18, 1998 he married Michelle “Missy” Kaelin in Mulberry and she survives. Daniel was a drummer with several local bands and worked at Hooks Oxygen, Dairy Queen and Arni's. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lafayette Fraternal Order of Eagles 347 and a charter member of Lafayette Eagle Riders 347. He volunteered for children's programs at Eagle's Aerie. Dan was an avid Cub's fan, pet lover and enjoyed the outdoors. Surviving along with his wife, is his son Daniel J. Lancaster fiance Jetona Gentry of Lafayette, chosen children Travis Brunner and Ashley Filson, sisters Sharon Kay Smith husband Ralph, Cynthia Camp deceased husband Joe, Melody Crumly husband Marty, a brother Dennis Lancaster wife Terri all of Lafayette and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are very special extended family Donald and Jennifer Niccum and their family, brother in law Charles Rardon and a sister in law Margaret Lancaster all of Lafayette . Dan was preceded in death by a sister Joyce E. Rardon and a brother Roland L. Lancaster. A celebration of Dan's life will begin at 6 PM Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Eagles Aerie 347 with Eagles service at 7 PM with a jam session to follow. The family requests casual attire. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Dan's memory can be made to Lafayette Eagle Aerie #347 for the Diabetes Research Center.
