Cynthia Ann (Jurgens) Metzger, 70, of Lafayette passed away peacefully at Franciscan Health Lafayette Hospital on Friday, January 23, 2026, after a brief illness. She was born on June 9, 1955, to Aaron and Mildred (Ravencraft) Jurgens. She grew up in Williamsburg, IN and attended Northeastern High School later moving to Centerville, IN, where she graduated in 1973. She attended Cincinnati Christian University.
She married the love of her life, Bryan Metzger, on March 22, 1980. They spent nearly 40 years together until his death on January 31, 2020.
Cindy and Bryan were highly involved in 4-H. For many years, Cindy judged 4-H Queen Pageants in almost every county in Indiana. She was extremely active with the local Horse and Pony Club, where she worked with students to compete in Horse Bowl. Besides 4-H, Cindy was actively involved in her church – Faith Church, especially enjoying transporting visitors to and from the airport during the Biblical Counseling and Training Conference. She also enjoyed participating in the annual Living Nativity celebrations. In addition, Cindy always volunteered during local elections. She enjoyed knitting/crocheting scarves for the homeless. Cindy would often “pay it forward” by purchasing someone’s order behind her in a drive-thru line. Cindy enjoyed sledding down “Metzger Hill” with friends in her neighborhood. She loved to tell stories. She enjoyed supporting kids involved with sports, and more than anything, she was an AVID Purdue fan!!!!
Aside from all her volunteer work, Cindy loved animals. She enjoyed riding horses since she was a small girl. Most of all, she was very fond of her Dachshund doggies, Mocha, Cocoa, and Peanut. In addition to the love of her dogs, she was a lover of cats – the most special being Tibbs, TC, Boo, and Buddy.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, cousins, her paternal and maternal grandparents, her father-in-law, Ed Metzger, and brother-in-law, Stu Metzger. She leaves behind many cousins and special friends.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Faith Church, 5526 State Road 26 East, Lafayette. Interment will be at Meadow View Cemetery in Lafayette.
