Clinton E. Hilt, 91, of Lafayette, died Thursday morning, November 17, 2011 at Rosewalk Village.
He was born February 21, 1920, in Lafayette, to the late Raymond and Mary Nuttle Hilt.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps from July 12, 1943 to March 3, 1946.
After graduaing from high school he received his AS degree in accounting from Ivy Tech.
On February 13, 1943 he married Lucile Minor in Lafayette. She died March 1, 1948. He then married Lyda Peterson on April 8, 1949 in Lafayette. She died April 27, 2011
Clinton was a farmer, retired from the US Postal Service in 1978 and had his own income tax service retiring in 2009.
He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, a duel member of Masonic Lodges 123 and 103, Past President and Vice President of York Rite, was in Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts and enjoyed bowling, reading, gardening and camping.
Surviving is a son Wayne Lee Hilt wife Mary of Lafayette and 4 grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, Catherine and Rebecca Hilt.
He was preceded in death by a son Richard Hilt, a brother George Hilt and a sister Mary Ann Jaske.
Visitation will be 3 to 6 pm with a Masonic service at 5:30 on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. A funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, November 21, 2011 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd Lafayette, IN 47909 with Rev. Bruce Mowery officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Vale Cemetery.
