Clifford Ray Decker, 82 of Lafayette, died Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Mary Health Care. Clifford was born in Lafayette on October 31, 1935 to the late William Decker and Gerta (Froedge) Stingley. Clifford graduated from Romney High School and went on to receive his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue. He worked in banking and in HR for National Homes and SIA, retiring from both. Clifford was a great storyteller and writer. He was a member of the VFW #1154, and he enjoyed volunteering for making Christmas dinners for the less fortunate.
He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Decker (Wife Helen) of Greencastle, a sister, Midge Wiegand of Lafayette, brothers, Ernest Stingley (wife Sue) of Flora, Gerry Stingley (wife Pat) of Lafayette, and Steve Stingley (wife Rose) of Stockwell. Clifford is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and a veru special friend, Kelly Kiger. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and his cat, Cooper. Military Honors will take place at 1:00 PM Monday, February 19, 2018 at Spring Grove Cemetery in Lafayette.
