Claire S Brigham, January 28, 1929 – November 3, 2026
Born in Cincinnati to Arthur Sudbrack and Helen Smith Sudbrack. She attended Withrow High School and went on to attend the University of Cincinnati on a Classics scholarship. While at UC she began a lifelong membership in Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She also met and married the love of her life, Will Brigham, while at UC. During their marriage, she raised their five children in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, England, and Scotland, initially moving around as Will’s military service required and then as his subsequent civilian legal career developed. She was a fantastic cook and loving mother. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, and playing bridge. In her later years she expressed an increased interest in following national politics.
Survived by: sons David Brigham, Joel Brigham, and Gor Rivenshield; daughter Amy Brigham; son in law Eduardo Guardarramas; grandchildren Lara Brigham (Dave Hembroff) and Sarah Brigham; great grandchildren Josh Brigham and Brig Hembroff; cats Henry and Katherine; and many treasured friends and neighbors.
Preceded in death by her husband of almost 53 years, Robert “Will” Brigham, also by son Roger Brigham, step-brother Art Sudbrack, grandsons Billy Brigham and Arthur Rivenshield, and numerous beloved cats and dogs.
There will be an informal gathering in celebration of her life in West Lafayette later in November, probably the week of November 16th (date and specific details yet to be determined) followed by a later graveside observance at Oak Hill cemetery in Cincinnati Ohio (date and details still to be determined).
