Charles R. Stephens, 76, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at St. Anthony Health Care. He was born June 29, 1946, in Danville, IL, to the late Raymond and Lula (Phillips) Stephens. Charlie attended Ambia High School and was a veteran of the Army serving in the Vietnam War.
He worked for the US Postal Service in Lafayette for 38 years and retired on May 30, 2003. Charlie was a member of the American Legion Post #11 and the Lafayette Cloud Jockeys. He enjoyed electronics and was a model railroad enthusiast. Surviving are his children Christopher R. (Christy Bickett) Stephens of West Lafayette, Amanda J. Stephens of Lafayette, grandchildren Anthony Kelp of West Lafayette and Dalton Fife of Youngstown, OH. Also surviving are his siblings John (Rebecca) Stephens of Ambia and Linda Carlson of Hoopeston, IL. Charlie was preceded in death by a sister Marsha Quinn.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette, Chapel 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery near Ambia, IN.
