Charles Edward Moore, 92, of Terre Haute, IN passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette.
He was born August 10, 1931, in Terre Haute, to the late Lester and Edith (Hedges) Moore.
Charles graduated from Pimento High School and attended Purdue University.
He was a veteran of the Navy serving from 1951-1955 aboard the USS Midway aircraft carrier.
On June 5, 1953, he married Nancy Helen Drake, who preceded him in death on May 2, 2010.
Charles was a dedicated hog farmer throughout his working years.
He was active in Indiana Pork Producers at the state and local level, and was acknowledged as the first
Pork All American in the State of Indiana in 1970. For several years he supported Vigo County 4-H Swine
projects. He also enjoyed raising quarter horses, beef cattle and rabbits. Later in life, Charles became a
pilot and enjoyed flying over fields and inspecting the crops. He also enjoyed riding his Honda Goldwing,
gardening and woodworking. In his retirement years, he always had a Boston Terrier by his side. Charles
was an avid fan of Purdue Boilermaker basketball.
For many years, Charles wintered in Lakeland, FL where he enjoyed golf and shuffleboard.
Surviving are four daughters, Susan (husband Jim) Bliss of Bowling Green, KY, N. Jane Richardson of
Lafayette, Joyce Seidle of West Lafayette and Mary Moore of Terre Haute. Also surviving are six
grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a special companion, Ann Vencel of Bloomington.
Charles was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
A celebration of life honoring Charles will be held in Terre Haute at a later date.
