Charlene Rae Lane, 76, of Lafayette, passed away at 2:03 am Thursday, July 30, 2015 at St. Elizabeth East. She was born June 18, 1939, in Gary, to the late Leon E. and Edith M. Case Mills. Charlene had worked at National Homes, and finished at Fairfield Manufacturing, retiring after 27 years. She was also “Mrs. Claus” at Fairfield for several years. Charlene was a member of Fairfield 25 years club and enjoyed attending the grandchildrens sporting events and car shows. Surviving are her children, Jeff Lane (Cindy) of Oxford, Susie Tucker of Lafayette, Joe Lane (Tina) of Pine Village and Julie Lane of Lafayette; a brother, Jerry Mills (Donna) of French Lick along with eight grandchildren, Jennifer Kawlewski (Andrew), Marykate Lane, William and Michael Weaver, Shannon Donovan (Todd), Heather Grimmett (Greg), Cortney Marshall and Ashley Garriott. Also surviving are twenty three great grandchildren, especially her caregiver Ashlyn Rae and close friends, Janet Woodruff and Tom Hale. She was preceded in death by her companion, Eddie Sandusky. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday August 3, 2015 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with funeral services starting at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 4 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909. Rev. Mark Berg will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wyandotte Cemetery
