Carolyn Dee (Melton) Brissey, 83, of West Lafayette, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at her residence.

She was born June 1, 1942, in Zion, KY, to the late McDonald “Mac” and Doris (Williams) Melton.

Carolyn was a proud graduate of Klondike High School; the class of 1960. Always a Nugget!

On December 3, 1960, she married Charles Brissey at Mt. Zion Church in West Lafayette. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2009.

Carolyn’s career as an executive administrative assistant to the director of housing and food services at Purdue University spanned over 40 years before her retirement. She and Charlie were very loyal Boilermaker fans!

Most recently, Carolyn attended Faith Presbyterian Church. Additionally, she and Charles were long time members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. Carolyn was an avid reader and also enjoyed crosstitch, her dogs, and shopping.

Surviving are her children, Scott Brissey of Boswell, IN, Mark (Deeona) Brissey of Springdale, AR, and Shannon (Robert) Shuck of Winter Garden, FL. Carolyn is also survived by her sister, Patricia (Roger) Pedigo of Lafayette, IN and sister-in-law, Janet (Bob) Smith of Westfield, IN. Carolyn was very proud to be Grandma to eight grandchildren and Gigi to six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Soller-Baker West Lafayette Chapel, 1184 Sagamore Parkway West, West Lafayette, IN 47906. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made in Carolyn’s name to either the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.

Dear Shannon, Scott, Mark, and families, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your mother was a kind and generous soul. The first time we talked was when she brought Rob home and nursed him well after dental surgery. I’m sure Charles wondered who’s this strange boy in our house. She will be missed. Yes, we have known Carolyn for over 30 years because of our daughter Mary her son Mark. It has been a wonderful time knowing her and Charles we love him very much and they have been wonderful to our daughter and our grandkids and we know that she's in heaven, resting now, and enjoying the heavens, glories and being with Charles again in their life in heaven, and we will meet them one day when we pass over to the other side, we love and appreciate everything that they have done for our children, and we love Mark as our own and we will always do that rest in peace, sweet Caroline, and enjoy that beautiful smile that God gave you

Pat. Sorry to read of Caroline’s passing. I remember the summer my sister and I came to Indiana to visit our older sister. We were just kids. We met the Melton sisters. What a fun summer. Time flies. I have such warm memories of that time. I pray all her knew and loved her have lots of warm memories to carry the thru the coming days. I’m only a phone call away. Prayers to all. Regards, Dymphna.

Carolyn and I met in a grief group when our husbands had passed away. she was a good friend. We talked about our children and grandbabies. .We had good times together. I will miss her, but I know she is happy to be with her husband in heaven. Nancy
