Carolyn Burrell, 76, of Chalmers, passed away at 9:15 am Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Digby Place in Lafayette. She was born June 10, 1940 in Benton County to the late Tim S. and Christine (Sims) Poindexter.
After graduating from Wolcott High School, Carolyn married Donald L. Burrell on September 1, 1962 in Chalmers. He passed away on November 9, 2006.
Carolyn was a homemaker and farm wife and enjoyed all the activities that came with that, baking, cooking, sewing and taking care of the family and its needs.
She was a member of Elmwood Avenue Church of Christ, her ministry was raising and taking care of children and all those she met.
Surviving is her son, Jim Burrell (companion Tiffany Cochran) of Chalmers, her daughter, Donna Porter (Dave) of St Joseph, MI; a sister, Joyce Worthington (Don) of Ft. Collins, CO, Three brothers, Dick Poindexter (Faith) and Tim Poindexter both of Wolcott, and Bob Poindexter (Barb) of Columbus, OH. Also surviving are grandchildren, James Colten Burrell, Patience Parker, Brandi Woods-Waibel and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by a brother James Poindexter.
Friends may call from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Soller-Baker Funeral Homes Lafayette Chapel at 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909 with Gilbert Kerrigan officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Lake Cemetery in Wolcott.
