Carol J. Brewer, 90, of Mulberry, formerly of Lafayette, joined her husband Ross, in their Heavenly home, on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community in Mulberry.
She was born on September 12, 1935, in Lafayette to the late Howard E. and Dorothy L. (Martin) Dunbar. She attended Lafayette Jefferson High School and was a 1953 graduate of Wea High School. On September 11, 1954, she married Ross E. Brewer, in Battle Ground. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage until Ross passed away on February 22, 2013.
She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and worked for many years as a Nursing Assistant for Dr. Rothrock for 16 years and then Arnett Clinic before her retirement in 2005.
Carol was an expert shopper who could find any of the most sought after toys each Christmas for her grandchildren, and she enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved planning family get-togethers and made the best blueberry pie on the planet – full of sugar and flavor! She and Ross loved spending time at their lake house on Lake Shafer surrounded by family and friends. Carol cherished her title of grandma, never missing a school or sporting event and loving every second she had with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her 3 children, Michael (Valery) Brewer of Gilbert, AZ, Becky (Geary) Richard of Sarasota, FL; and Jeffrey (Heidi) Brewer of Lafayette; a sister, Mary Jane Eaton; brother, Richard Dunbar; 7 grandchildren, Jessica (Patrick) O’Leary, David (Maeve) Brewer, Matthew (Casey) Poynter, Bradley (Sally) Poynter, Amanda (Matt) Anderson, Jordan (Sarah) Brewer, and Samuel (Nicole) Brewer; and 18 great grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Ross and her parents, Howard and Dorothy; Carol was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Irwin.
Memorial contributions in Carol’s name may be given to Christ United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am, Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909 with Pastor Kurt Freeman officiating.
Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 1200 Sagamore Parkway North, Lafayette, IN 47904.
