Carol Gay (Morlan) Springgate, 84, of Lafayette, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Franciscan Health East.

She was born December 4, 1939, in West Lebanon, to the late Harrell Eugene and Ellen Catherine (VanPelt) Morlan Sr.

Carol graduated from West Lebanon High School.

On February 14, 1974, she married the love of her life Donald H. Springgate Jr. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2007.

Carol managed the Mudlavia Lodge and spent many years as a farmer’s wife before retiring.

She was a member of Priscilla Club, Red Hats, and WALLA.

Carol was an avid IU sports fan and enjoyed reading, traveling and gardening. She made many wonderful memories with the Grief Buddies Group who were incredibly special to her.

Surviving are two daughters, Valerie Taylor of Lafayette and Shelley Taylor of Attica, two brothers, David Morlan of IL and Henry Morlan of IN and a sister, Tina Smith of IN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Phillip (wife Heather) Taylor of Lafayette, Lindsay Taylor of Kingsland, GA, and Joe Taylor of Lafayette, as well as two great-grandsons, Logan Paul Holt and William Joseph Taylor.

In addition to her beloved husband, Carol is celebrating in heaven with two sons, Jeffrey Taylor and Paul Taylor, two brothers, Harrell Morlan, Jr. and Dick Morlan, two sisters, Juanita Lake and Kathy Hislope and a granddaughter, Jessica Taylor.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday January 25, 2024 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 also at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, with Pastor Adam Howard officiating.  Interment will follow at Oxford West Cemetery, Oxford, IN.

Casual dress is requested.
