A private family interment will take place at The Preserve at Spring Vale Cemetery, as Caleb’s wishes were to have a green burial.

A celebration of Caleb’s life will be planned in the coming months

Caleb James DeStefano, 32, of Lafayette, formerly of Battle Ground, unexpectedly passed away of natural causes on June 16, 2022, at his residence.

He was born on January 30, 1990, in Lafayette to David James DeStefano and Muna (Matouk) Oto. He was a graduate of Harrison High School and was an Electrician Apprentice for IBEW Local Union 668 where he was employed by Ames Construction.

Caleb had a playful attitude and an infectious smile which endeared him to many. He loved to tell silly jokes and crazy stories which filled his family and friends with laughter. He enjoyed playing Pokemon Go and board games, fishing, watching movies, listening to music, savoring Now & Later candy, and stargazing. Caleb was a loyal friend to many and he loved spending time with those closest to him. Caleb had a kind heart, patient demeanor, quick wit, and great sense of humor. It was easy to be happy and optimistic around him. Caleb enjoyed being a “bad” influence on his niece and nephew and was the best Funcle they could have asked for.

Caleb is survived by his mother and step-father, Muna and Dominic Oto; his father, David DeStefano; his fiancée, Holly Jackson; his sister, Rebecca (Kris) Klosowski; nephew, Jack Wolff; niece, Zofia Klosowski; his 2 dogs, Marlee and Ruby; and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Caleb, please spend time with your family or friends playing board games or Pokemon Go.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm (noon), Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.

Caleb was one of the best men on this earth. He was funny and goofy. But he was also sincere and sweet and would do anything for anyone. He will truly be missed. ? Thinking of his family right now.

Caleb, I’ve known you since you were just 15 years old. You’ve played a huge role in our family’s lives. Such a great man at heart. The most easy going person I’ve ever met, always laughing and joking around I think is how I will remember you most. I’ll also remember what a great person you were. I believe you were an angle sent to earth ?. You weren’t perfect but none of us are. You will be truly missed.

The few times I met Caleb I saw his genuine soul. We really connected and he was such a nice funny guy! Prayers continue for him, his family, and Holly! Spend time with those closest to you!!

I know you really liked to hear Holly, Myron, Kaelyn & I when we would be seated at the dinner table or at the picnic table at our camper, and how we would be telling funny stories about Holly family or just about some of Holly stunts.
