Bud Hileman

Lafayette, IN ? Bernard M. (Bud) Hileman, Jr., 64, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at home in Middleville, MI.
He was born October 3, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard M. Hileman, Sr. He grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and graduated from Creston High School.
He was in the Marines from 1966?1968, and was a Private E-1 being awarded the National Defense Service Metal and Vietnam Campaign Medal with devices. He graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for R.E. Dailey & Company in Michigan and supervised a wastewater treatment plant in Guayama, Puerto Rico. After he returned to the states, he located in Lafayette, IN where he started his own company in 1992, Craft Mechanical.
Upon retirement he moved to Gun Lake, MI where he spent his summers, and Ft. Meyers, FL where he spent his winters. He loved the water, toured the states and Canada on his motorcycle, and enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-five years, Sherry L. Hileman of Middleville, MI; and three children, Bernard M. Hileman, III (wife, Angela) of Lafayette, IN; Shelby L. Johnson (husband Eric) of Lafayette, IN; and Brock M. Hileman of Phoenix, AZ; two grandchildren, Jacob Hileman and Bree Johnson; niece, Jennifer Mattoon of Grand Rapids, MI; mother-in-law, Bonney McCloud of Yorktown, IN; father-in-law, Robert Stephenson (wife, Janice) of Muncie, IN.
Visitation will be from 6:00?8:00p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN.

Bud was a special person and friend.
When you think back over the years and remember the times and experience that you had while growing up, hopefully it will bring a smile to your face, as you remember who you were with.
I first knew of Bud probably in the 2nd or 3rd grade, and I know we both were in Mrs. Reader&s class in the 5th. grade, from there on it was all down hill.
The adventures of Bud, Len , and Greg have spanned so many years, that my memories of growing up before going in the service and continuing after, always included Bud, and it make me smile.
I know I was blessed to have such a good friend for so long, and I sure will miss Bud, but I will never forget him. He truly was a good person and good friend.
