Bruce James Busse, 83, of Lafayette, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Franciscan Health, Lafayette with his wife and son by his side.
He was born March 13, 1943, in Chicago, IL to the late Edward and Bernadette (Dore) Busse. He was a graduate of Lake Park High School in Medinah, IL.
On August 22, 1964, he married his best friend and love of his life, Karen Meyer in Itasca, IL. Bruce worked as an Ophthalmic Photographer and retired as the Director of Ophthalmology at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette in 2009.
Bruce was a member of the Ophthalmic Photographers Society since 1972.
Bruce enjoyed golfing, and his collector cars that he drove and displayed at car shows. He also enjoyed remodeling his home. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family and friends.
Along with his wife, Karen, he is survived by their son, Brian J. (Jennifer) Busse; 2 grandchildren, Bradley J. (Jessica) Busse of Spring, TX and Kara E. Hubner of Cincinnati, OH; great-grandson, Brandon J. Busse of Spring, TX; and a sister, Karen A. Rugg of Itasca, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bernadette Busse and brother-in-law, Walter Rugg.
