Bruce E. McCormick, 77, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2026 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.

He was born April 16, 1949, in Lafayette, IN, to the late Ora “Hickory” and Wilma (Coulter) McCormick.

Bruce graduated from Southwestern High School and attended Purdue University.

On July 22, 1972, he married Donna Hartke in St. James Lutheran Church in Reynolds and she survives.

Bruce worked for A. E. Staley for over 20 years before retiring.

He attended both Stidham United Methodist church and Christ United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Mav Booster Club and the Purdue Gold Block.

Bruce was a huge sports fan especially McCutcheon High School Athletics and the New York Yankees. Bruce enjoyed riding his bicycle, visiting with neighbors, listening to music especially the Beatles and was a local friendly face never meeting a stranger.

Surviving with his wife, Donna L. McCormick of Lafayette are two daughters, Stacy Stelter and Gretchen (Brice) Turpin, both Lafayette and a sister-in-law, Mary Helen McCormick. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Coy and Sloane Stelter, Jordan (Ashley) Turpin, Kayla (Dalton) Justice, Audrey, and Myla Turpin as well as three great grandchildren, Easton, Lennon and Jaxson.

Bruce was preceded in death by two brothers, Dave and John McCormick.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd. Lafayette, IN 47909.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 10, also at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with Pastor Jeff Stedge officiating. Burial will follow at Mintonye Cemetery.
