Brian J. Freed, 63, of West Point, passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of loved ones on Friday, June 19, 2026. Born on March 23, 1963, in Lafayette, Indiana, Brian was the son of the late Lester and Sandra (McKinney) Freed. A 1981 graduate of McCutcheon High School, Brian married, Robin Misner, in March of 1988, in Lafayette. Together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and community.
Brian dedicated 37 years to Mary Lou Donuts, becoming the owner in 1990 and retiring in 2017. He took immense pride in his work and in continuing the tradition and quality that made the business a local favorite. Although his retirement was brief, Brian enjoyed spending time farming and working on antique cars and tractors whenever he could.
Brian is survived by his wife, Robin; his son, Joshua (Samantha) Freed of West Point and their son, Harper; his daughter, Jerrica (Jason) Vaughan of Wisconsin and their children, Juliauna, Jolina, and Jordy; and his brothers, Michael (Holly) Freed of West Point and Scott (Kelly) Freed of Inverness, Florida.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Boulevard, Lafayette. Interment will follow at West Point Cemetery. In keeping with Brian’s wishes, guests are encouraged to dress casually when attending the visitation and service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Brian’s memory to the West Point Fire Department.
