Brenton (Brent) Daniel Goodman, 39, of Lafayette, IN passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on November 4, 2024. Brent was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Brent had a passion for serving God, medicine, helping others and spending time with family. He had a brilliant mind, was creative, thoughtful, humble in his accomplishments, and slow to speak and quick to listen. Brent’s sudden passing is a profound loss to all who loved him, and he will be remembered for all the joy he brought to our lives.
Brent graduated as a co-valedictorian from Lafayette Jefferson High school in 2004. He followed by graduating on an academic scholarship from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science Degree with Highest Distinction Honors. He then went on to complete medical school at Indiana University, graduating with honors. Brent went on to pursue his passion for medicine by completing his residency in anesthesiology at Rush University as a distinguished top 5% resident in his field.
Brent had a brilliant mind, especially in medicine. He was passionate about helping others, both in his profession and in everyday life. He had a passion for learning new things and looking for new answers in all areas of his life. Adventurous at heart, he enjoyed outdoor pursuits and traveling, including mission work.
He was always there for his family, whether helping his parents with technology, caring for animals, assisting with construction projects or joining in family trips and gatherings. Brent loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, showing up for family gatherings to spend time and entertain them. Brent was a supportive presence, offering a listening ear and sound advice. His life was marked by love, generosity, and a deep commitment to those around him.
Brent is survived by his parents, Grant and Melody Goodman, siblings Aaron, Austin, and Grace Goodman and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
A celebration of life will be held at Soller-Baker Funeral Home on Sunday, November 10. Visitation will be from 3:00 – 4:30 pm and a service to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, a trust will be formed to help fund the further education of his nieces and nephews. Donations can be sent to Grant and Melody Goodman at 8 N 20th Street Lafayette, IN 47904, to be transferred into the trust.
