Beverly Joyce (Haehl) Dwiggins, 78, of Lafayette, passed away on April 8, 2018 at 8:58 am at home. Bev was born on February 16, 1940 in Union Township, Shelby County, IN. to the late Helen Marjorie (Norvell) and Wilbur Kenneth Haehl. Her marriage was to Jack Dwiggins on August 20, 1961 and he survives.
She graduated from Waldron High School in 1958. She graduated from Purdue University in 1962 and became a Food Supervisor at Purdue in the residence halls for 25 years, with the last 19 at Cary Quad men’s residence hall.
Bev is survived by her husband; two sons, Kenneth W. (Anna) Dwiggins and Eric M. (Jennifer) Dwiggins; grandchildren Danielle Dwiggins, Ethan Dwiggins, Piper Dwiggins and Step granddaughter Cheyanne Meiring. ; Sisters Deborah (Joe) Harker of Shelby County, IN. and Donna Haehl of Garden Grove, CA. ; Many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents and a brother.
She was a member and active at Christ United Methodist Church in Lafayette as the former financial secretary, organizing food for the TGIW program, belonged to the Martha Circle, helped start the Archives and History committee and was doing a card ministry. She had been the treasurer of the Western Indiana Dietetic Association, president of the Lafayette Jaycee Wives and was one of the original members of the Parkinson’s support group in West Lafayette, IN.
She loved to travel with family and friends and documented each trip in great detail. She loved collecting baskets, Hall pottery and other items. The family thanks the staff of Great Lakes Caring, Comfort Keepers and the wound care center for the excellent care they provided for Bev and her family.
Viewing will be from 5 to 8 pm on Saturday, April 14 at Christ United Methodist Church, 3601 South 18th Street, Lafayette, Indiana. The first service will be at Christ United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, the 15th. Graveside service will be at 5:30 pm on Sunday, the 15th at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery, 7025 E. 100 N, Shelbyville, IN., followed by a service at the Zion church. Bev’s family will receive family and friends following the service. Friends and family from the Shelby County area are encouraged to attend the Zion service. Pastor Scott Mann will officiate at both services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church or the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
