Betty Sue (Wood) Dillman, 80, of Lafayette, passed peacefully in her home of 56 years on March 17, 2023.
She was born September 27, 1942, in Barren County, Kentucky to the late Gilbert Harold and Bera Wood. On February 3, 1961, she married the love of her life, James B. Dillman. Later in life, Betty proudly earned her high school diploma. She worked for Duncan Electric and as a Lead Cashier for Meijer.
Betty (Nan) was a simple person who wanted nothing more than warm, sunny days and to be surrounded by loved ones. Her generous and caring side knew no bounds. If you ever needed anything, she would go wherever she need to be to give you her help, her time, or her love. And wherever she was or whatever she was doing, you could always count on her for a smile, a laugh, and a good hug.
Betty’s pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty loved attending family gatherings, having the grandchildren over to spend the night or week, gardening, being outside and drag racing fast cars in her younger days. Betty always had an ear for when someone needed to talk. Many of her nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, childhood friends of her children and friends from the neighborhood could be seen sitting with Betty on her swing in the front yard, her favorite place to enjoy the sunshine.
Betty (Nan) was the sweetest lady that anyone’s ever known. She will be missed by all who had to chance to know and love her.
She is survived by her 3 children, Jack (Helen) D. Dillman of Arvada, CO, Tammy (Steve) S. Crider of West Lafayette, and Lori (Mark) L. Johnson of Mooresville; 8 grandchildren, Kayce (Dennis) Johnson, Andrew (Maribeth) Bishop, Nathaniel Twitty, Sarah (Jake) Campbell, Dallas (Regina) Sharpe, Nicholas Crider, Zachary (Katlin) Johnson, and Katlyn (Bradley) Gilman; 18 great-grandchildren, Hunter Twitty, , McKenzie Twitty, Brantley VonBank, Britton Bishop, Braxton Sharpe, Abel Campbell, Laila Johnson, Niko Twitty, Maia Ruusman, McKenzie Bishop, Hunter Bishop, Cooper Bishop, Hailey Johnson, Cecilia Sharpe, Allison Johnson, Atticus Johnson, and Rowan Johnson; 6 siblings, James (Marylou) H. Wood, Ronnie (Debbie) Wood, Dianne Hoover, Sharon Cox Scott, Farrell (Teresa) Wood, and Michael Wood.
Along with her husband, James B. Dillman, she was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Bera Wood; son, Anthony W. Dillman; great-grandson, Sloane Sharpe; a sister, Clara Susie Allen; 5 brothers, David Wood, Rancel Wood, Arlis Wood, Lanny Wood, and Terry Wood.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Monday, March 27, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
Service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Soller-Baker, Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd., Lafayette 47909.
Interment will follow at Meadow View Cemetery, 3733 Poland Hill Rd., Lafayette, IN 47909.
